Master Mind

In 2015, I had an opportunity to start a service company in the oil & gas industry. I was stoked!  Things were looking great, meetings were happening, key contacts were introduced, and equipment was in place.

I revealed to my employer that I had started this company and would soon be leaving to run my business full-time.  Things happened really quickly and I would soon be recruited to work for the oil company I had intended to service.  I’ll have to share this unique story later.

Why this matters

When I made the transition I was facing debt for the failed experiment.  Without a doubt I made some terrible financial decisions! I went into debt purchasing new heavy equipment to get the business off the ground.

Here’s the most annoying and frustrating thought: I knew better than to go into debt to pursue this goal.   My personal finances were well managed.   I thought I needed to go into debt to fund this.

As a result of this business financial disaster, I realized this disconnect happens in many entrepreneurs.  Lines of credit, credit cards, home-equity loans, friends and family loans, and 401K cash outs are often means used to fund the company.  I understand the euphoria of starting your business. Nothing can wrong is often the thought.

My equipment was sold pennies on the dollar and debtors were paid. It was while working this financial process that I learned that personal finances and business finances go hand-in-hand. There should be no reason to separate the both and yet it continues to happen.

Where am I now…

This payoff process brought clarity for me and I would see the need to educate the entrepreneur in managing their personal finances. The stage of your entrepreneurial journey does not matter. A well-seasoned or novice entrepreneur will benefit from a financial strategy.

I put together a financial strategy using my personal successes and failures to walk side-by- side an entrepreneur. The strategy will be tailored to your present financial situation with a forward thinking attitude. Let’s discover the connection between culture and entrepreneurship, sharpen your money making decisions, spend wisely, eliminate debt and bootstrap your business.
